Most of us visiting the post would have started making plans to visit Himachal after reading the headlines. And why not? After Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh govt. is considering marijuana cultivation in the state.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in his previous statement said that the state would consider legalizing cultivation of weed but after properly ensuring the legality of the same. He stated that after seeing the massive increase in requests for legalization of marijuana cultivation, it can be considered.
With Himachali areas like Malana and Sainj in Kullu district getting famous worldwide for high quality strains of the plant, legalization of marijuana cultivation might help in boosting the economy of the state.
In 2017, Ministry of Health & Welfare issued a license for Scientific and Industrial Research to CSIR-IIM along with a Bombay startup BOHECO.
The step taken by the govt of the state and its successful implementation can be a big leap for the marijuana cultivation and countries associated with the same.
